Hamad Hassan Al Tamimi

A Qatari writer, novelist, and founder of Contemporary Characters. His work centres on people, society, power, and memory, moving between storytelling, ideas, and the preservation of cultural legacy.

The human being before the event

Hamad Hassan Al Tamimi writes where the individual meets society, power, and memory. He does not treat an event as the end of a story, but as a doorway to understanding its effects on people, their choices, and the way they see themselves.

His published career began in fiction and later expanded into cultural and intellectual essays. Through Contemporary Characters, his interest in preserving experience developed from a personal concern into a documentary project that brings together interviews, portraits, and documents, presenting them through books, events, and a digital archive.

His cultural identity moves through four interconnected themes: the person; society and power; memory and legacy; and literature and story. They are united by one principle: “The human being before the event—and the impact after absence.”
