Profile
Ali Saleh Al-Sada is a Qatari media professional and television director. He developed his abilities through self-directed learning and progressive responsibility, establishing himself as a young leader in Qatari media.
Biography
Born in Doha in 1980, he grew up in a quiet family committed to education. Weekdays were spent in the city and weekends in the family’s hometown of Al Ruwais with relatives, grandparents and the community majlis. His father began in education, moved into military service with the Traffic Department and later became Director of the Juvenile Department at the Ministry of Interior, where he remained until retirement. He was both leader and friend to his son. Ali’s mother offered a complementary example of ambition by continuing her own studies alongside him until she completed secondary school.
Land and sea shaped his leisure. He fished, hunted and spent a short period playing table tennis for Al Shamal Sports Club; billiards was another favourite activity. A spontaneous and cheerful temperament made him popular, and friends often depended on him.
He attended Al Hilal Private School for primary education, Al Furqan Private School at preparatory level and Al Istiqlal Secondary School. Although formal education ended with secondary school, learning did not. He studied independently and completed numerous television-direction courses in Qatar and abroad. After four years in the petroleum sector, he moved first to Al Jazeera and then to Qatar Television.
Both broadcasters provided important experience and opportunities to direct a wide range of programmes. During Qatar Television’s redevelopment in 2012, he was entrusted with live coverage connected with His Highness the Amir, including military-college graduations, conferences and scientific-excellence ceremonies, as well as official interviews. Becoming the principal director for this output fulfilled a major ambition. After completing that stage, he chose to pass directing responsibility to a new generation.
His programmes included “Al Liwan” and “Kashat”, which he directed across nine years. Productions took him onto land and sea in Qatar and abroad. He also helped establish a new directing department at Qatar Television and contributed to programme management.
He began the assignment with an integrated plan to develop the channel and bring its work to the standard of leading international broadcasters.
The route to leadership was neither direct nor easy. He navigated obstacles through care, patience, clear judgement and persistence, eventually reaching the professional objectives he had set.
