Qatari Writer, Novelist, and Founder of the Contemporary Characters Project
His work spans fiction, essays, and cultural documentation. His writing places the human being at the heart of the narrative, exploring the individual’s relationship with society, power, and memory, as well as the tension between one’s public image and inner truth.
Questions of fear, dignity, identity, loss, and legacy occupy a central place in his work. He is also interested in the psychological and social transformations that shape human attitudes and decisions. He does not use literature merely to decorate an idea, but as a means of understanding what news reports may fail to reveal. For him, storytelling is a path toward understanding people, not simply a method of narration.
His body of work includes novels, narrative writing, and essays addressing human, social, and cultural questions. These works examine the individual’s relationship with their surroundings and with the memories they carry. Through his writing, he seeks to create texts whose questions remain after the event has passed, opening space for reflection and dialogue rather than immediate judgment.
Alongside his literary work, he founded the Contemporary Characters Project, an Arab cultural initiative dedicated to documenting the lives of individuals who have contributed to their communities. The project preserves their experiences and testimonies as part of cultural and social memory, looking beyond achievement to understand the experiences, challenges, and decisions that shaped their journeys.
Through his cultural work, Hamad brings together literature, thought, and documentation. He is building an archive that protects human experiences from reduction and oblivion, while giving future generations an opportunity to understand people within the context of their time and society.
